GOOD VIBRATION

MVCC direct current vibrator : 12 and 24 volts

The MVCC series was designed for situations where no mains supply exists : a direct current vibrator connected straight to the battery of a vehicle or machine.

Five references, from 1.20 to 14.9 kN, from 5.7 to 21 kg. Three run on either 12 or 24 V, the two most powerful on 24 V only.

Choosing a direct current vibrator

On this series, force is not the first criterion. It is the vehicle's electrical circuit that governs, and it must be looked at before anything else.

1. Check the voltage available

The MVCC 3/100, 3/200 and 3/500 accept both 12 and 24 V. The 3/1200 and 3/1500 run on 24 V only : the catalogue publishes no current value at 12 V for these two references. On a 12 V machine, the choice therefore stops at the 3/500 and its 5.72 kN.

2. Look at the amperage, not the power

This is the point that surprises most. At low voltage, a modest power translates into a high current : the MVCC 3/500 and its 270 W draw 22.5 A at 12 V, against 11.3 A at 24 V for the same work. The wiring, the fuse and the battery capacity must follow. Moving to 24 V where possible halves the current and simplifies the whole installation.

3. The MF suffix, and why it matters in retrofit

The MVCC 3/100 and 3/200 carry the suffix MF, for multi-hole mounting base. It takes up several different hole spacings, which makes it possible to replace an existing vibrator without re-drilling the hopper or the frame. On equipment already in service, it is often that detail which decides.

4. The weight covers change material

The 3/100-MF, 3/200-MF and 3/500 have aluminium alloy covers ; the 3/1200 and 3/1500 have them in AISI 304 stainless steel. A point to note if the machine is exposed to salt or fertiliser — a frequent case on gritters and spreaders.

No ATEX certification on this series
The declared conformity covers electromagnetic compatibility — directive 2014/30/EU, standards EN 61000-6-2, EN 61000-6-4, EN 13309 and EN 60034-1 — plus EAC certification. There is no certification for explosive atmospheres. If your installation is in a classified area, you must look at the ATEX series in the catalogue, which all run on an AC supply.

How a three-phase motor runs on a battery

On this series, the direct current from the battery does not feed the motor directly. Italvibras patented a different arrangement : an electronic board, housed in the vibrator itself, converts the direct current and feeds a conventional three-phase induction motor , with vacuum-impregnated winding. The machine therefore keeps everything that makes an industrial motor reliable — no brushes, no commutator, so no electrical wearing part to replace — while being content with a 12 or 24 volt battery.
