Italvibras micro electric vibrator : the MICRO series

Un micro electric vibrator answers a precise need : vibrating where space is tight and a small force is enough. Three references, from 39 to 638 N, from 920 grams to 2.2 kg, all 2-pole at 3,000 rpm.

They are designed for automatic machines : feeding, conveying, screening, grading, separation and compaction in chemicals, food, pharmaceuticals and packaging. All are certified ATEX II 3 D for zone 22.

Choosing your MICRO reference

With only three references and a single polarity, the choice comes down to two questions : what force, and on what supply.

Force, related to the mass actually set in vibration

Here one works in newtons, not kilonewtons : the gap between the M3/4 and the M3/45 is a factor of eleven, but the whole series stays under 65 kgf. These machines drive a chute, a short trough, a dosing hopper or the tray of an automatic machine — not a structure weighing hundreds of kilos. If your force calculation exceeds the M3/45, turn to the M3 series, not to a MICRO pushed to 100 %.

The supply, which sometimes rules out a reference

Le M3/4-S02 n'existe qu'en monophasé, and it is the only one in the series requiring no capacitor at all. The M3/20 and M3/45 come in three-phase from 24 to 480 V as well as single-phase ; in the standard single-phase version the capacitor is already housed in an in-line box on the supply cable, which avoids having to fit it in the cabinet.

One point to watch if you request CSA certification : in that case the unit is supplied without a capacitor, neither on the cable nor elsewhere, and it is up to the user to fit a compliant one.

What zone 22 allows, and what it does not

The MICRO series is classified II 3 D, protection level Ex tc IIIC T100 °C Dc. This covers zone 22 — the one where an explosive dust atmosphere is not expected in normal operation, and where it persists only briefly if it does occur. It is not a certification for zone 21, still less for gas atmospheres. For zone 21, look to the M3 series ; for gas, to the flameproof series.

Two practical details

  • Force adjustment is made with blades, not with continuous weights : adjustment is in steps, by changing the number of blades fitted or their orientation. It is coarser than continuous adjustment, but sufficient at this scale.
  • The ball bearings are sealed and lubricated for life : no periodic greasing, no channels, nothing to maintain.
  • Mounting is possible in any position, without restriction, which leaves complete freedom to integrate it on an existing machine.

Where a micro electric vibrator is installed

The MICRO series was designed for continuous industrial duty on automatic machines, where the force required is low and the space available is measured in centimetres. It is found mainly on five functions :

Frequently asked questions

Can a micro electric vibrator run continuously ?
Yes. The MICRO series is designed for continuous duty S1 at the maximum declared centrifugal force and power. Intermittent duty is also possible depending on the model and operating conditions.
Is maintenance required ?
No. The ball bearings are sealed and lubricated for life : there is no greasing channel, no periodic greasing and no wearing part to monitor.
Is the capacitor supplied ?
On the standard single-phase versions, yes : it is housed in an in-line box on the supply cable. The M3/4-S02 requires none. If, however, you order CSA certification, the unit is supplied without a capacitor and it is up to you to fit a compliant one.
Can it be installed in any position ?
Yes, mounting is possible in any position, without restriction. That is what allows it to be integrated on an existing machine without rethinking the mounting.
When should you move up to the M3 series ?
As soon as the calculated force exceeds the 638 N of the M3/45, or as soon as zone 21 is required. The MICRO series is certified for zone 22 only ; the M3 series covers zones 21 and 22 and goes up to 3.05 kN.
